So I've pretty much built my design around the smaller and cozy ship level 6, but my itchy hand decided to complete the quest to upgrade my ship, creating unsightly empty rooms and hazard blocks around my design.I've been looking through the rest of the reddit and starbound forums, but they have very different goals from mine.I'm looking to specifically downgrade my ship level from 7 to 6, and also hopefully any way to disable the quest to upgrade my ship from appearing as well.I'm fully comfortable with any cheats, mods or save editing. You can't really go backwards, because I believe the upgrade level is now written to your character, and even when deleting your.shipworld, the game is going to regenerate the ship then apply all the upgrades you had. So you need a different solution.Make a simple mod, and in that mod you want to have onlyshipswhateverRaceFor a folder(substitute whateverRace for the race you're playing as).

And you'll add in that races's T8.structure file.Edit that.structure file, and copy that races's T6.structure file data over it. So you see we're going to 'upgrade' you back to a T6 ship, but officially you'll be T8.One other thing.

The reason that upgrade quest triggered was you hitting the crew limit. Higher tiers have higher limits. You might as well increase the number for 'crewSize' to 12 or higher. 12 is the max (vanilla) crew size for T8, but if you want 200, there is no particular reason why not.Now after adding your mod into starboundmods go back into the game, and do this /admin/spawnitem shipT8/adminAnd use that item to upgrade yourself. I haven't thought about modding the T8 ship to T6, thanks for the idea.Though, i'm curious about the upgrade level being written to character. Does this mean that ship level is based on your player file?EDIT: Apparently using a text editor, i was able to simple change my ship level. I still had to delete the shipworld though.

Since I had already completed the ship upgrading quest to T8 before, I can play the game as intended without having to mod and without fear of itchy hand. Though I do hope that this won't affect future updates. You know longer start totally over after after deleting your.shipworld file.

Starbound generates a new one, and applies all your upgrades in order prior to completely loading your character. I believe it writes your upgrade level into your character data so that it knows to do that. But unfortunately that means this method by itself won't be effective. This is basically what I have people do when they want to change over to a mod ship, or change back from a mod ship to vanilla. You don't really need to be planetside either. But you obviously want to take anything off your ship you want to keep.
